PTC Thermistors

PTC Thermistors image

TEC electric motors PTC thermistors are imbedded into each of the motor’s windings to protect them from exceeding their maximum temperature rating. PTC (positive temperature coefficient) thermistors positively change in resistance once the safe operating temperature has been exceeded. A PTC thermistor control relay detects the change in temperature and disconnects the motor’s supply.

Specifying TEC Thermistors at the design stage can save the expense of costly rewinds and down time!

TEC are able the install thermistors in house for an immediate supply also there are product ranges fitted with thermistors as standard!
TEC electric motors are able to advise and supply the PTC thermistor control relays. Please view the thermistor control relay PDF for details!

Connection

The thermistor connections are inside the electric motors terminal box usually to a 5 amp strip connector.

Accuracy

Thermistors are one of the most accurate types of temperature sensors. TEC thermistors have an accuracy of ±0.1°C or ±0.2°C depending on the particular thermistor model.
Nominal Resitance

25 degrees = 100 ohms
